I generally enjoy reading the articles here and I appreciate your efforts. I just fail to understand the reason to choose to include this article as the headline piece for this week’s publication.

Canadian businesses, FINTRAC and police and national security agencies all have a role to play in creating a hostile environment for those who seek to abuse our financial system or threaten the safety of Canadians.

I’m writing this letter hoping that some people from FINTRAC can help me (and maybe other Realtors) understand why we are still filling forms and collecting private information from our clients.

Readers should consider the impact on smaller communities where there is perhaps only one licensee. Yes, there is an exemption, but the test is so onerous that I doubt there will ever be an exemption approved.

People across Ontario understand the importance of real estate in this province, both as an investment and as a place to live and raise...

This opens the door to people choosing their homes based upon lifestyle criteria rather than location. I much prefer to work from my ski chalet rather than my city home.

We are concerned that this article misinforms the public about obtaining mortgage advice, and exposes real estate industry members to an unnecessary risk of facing disciplinary measures or civil liability.
